“I welcome my birthdays. Relish them, as a matter of fact. I have confidence now and can look forward to trying new things. I don’t think fifty was a crucial age. Forty was, and thirty-nine because I was facing forty. But lately everything has fallen into place.“
Happy birthday, Rock Hudson!!

I think progressive groups have a bad habit of looking at inaccessible areas of academia and art and saying “this thing is for rich people, it sucks, get rid of it” (does not give poor people more opportunities) instead of “this thing should be 1000x cheaper” (does give poor people more opportunities). to goal should always be to improve the lives of the oppressed.
me @ all the progressive ppl shitting on opera while thousands of opera singers who are queer, trans, poc, disabled, poor, etc. beg ppl to take us seriously and stop painting opera as a rich white cishets only art form bc all it does is justify the intense discrimination already present within the opera industry and literally turns it into a “you should have known/what did you expect when you went into opera”
Opera, you say? The recent Soup on Van Gogh incident uncovered a whole cesspool of people who unironically think they galleries and museums shouldn’t exist, because “art is inaccessible”. These people really advocate for closing for public spaces specifically made to spread cultural heritage.

‘I think more and more we’re becoming isolated. We don’t have healthy human contact, we spend the entire day with machines, all of us. And I do think that human beings are getting lonely. There’s a lot of unhappy people in our modern world.’
